The rest of my family had gone to bed, but at that moment, there was a collective, “What was that??!!!” Even my mother, who had taken off her hearing aid, was startled by that mighty boom. You can be sure that I have never had such a thought since!
Florence Scovell Shinn wrote in her famous book, The Game of Life and How to Play It, “The Game of Life is a game of boomerangs. Man’s thoughts, deeds and words, return to him sooner or later with astounding accuracy. Karma is Sanskrit for ‘comeback’.” In other words, as I explained in another article, “The Chickens Come Home to Roost.” It is therefore, extremely important to make sure the “chickens” that leave are the ones you want to come back!
If you persist in thinking negatively, or destructively, you simply cannot expect to reap positive results. You cannot expect to reap prosperous results by thinking or behaving as though lack is inevitable. The Law of cause and effect works with exacting accuracy.
That is the law of Karma at work. Fortunately, there is a way of rising above Karma, of setting it aside, as it were, so that you escape most of the consequences of your thoughts and actions. It is called Grace which is the positive application of the law of cause and effect.
You may overcome years of wrong thinking and living in a relatively short time by simply invoking the law of Grace. By so doing, you are set free from past mistakes and their results. Grace will lift you onto the highest level of love in action. That is because Grace is God’s gift to you. It is His love for you over and above what you may seem to merit. In other words, it is the Prodigal Son story applied to your own life. In that story, when the son returned to his father, there were no questions asked, no punishment meted out, just unconditional love expressed. There was even a grand party!
Love never asks questions, nor does it punish. If it did, it wouldn’t be love. That is why, when you invoke the law of Grace, you go free free from past mistakes, free from guilt and negative consequences. This does not, however, it gives you permission to repeat your offenses. Actually, when you really invoke the law of Grace, you cannot repeat!
Many years ago, a person experienced what he thought to be unfair treatment from others. Actually, he had helped to bring it about by his own wrong thinking and action. Wisely, he invoked the law of Grace by making the following declarations: “The Grace of God is sufficient unto me. The forgiving love of Jesus Christ now frees me from all of the mistakes of the past, and the results of the mistakes of the past.”
As he continued to invoke the law of Grace in his thoughts and actions, his life became more harmonious, peaceful and prosperous. Even the people, who had wrongly accused him, admitted their mistake.
There is nothing that Love cannot do, no miracle it will not work for you. Grace is God’s unconditional love for you. God (Love) never condemns you, so why should you? By invoking the law of Grace, you call upon the highest and most powerful energy in the Universe to work in you and for you: Love.
You make the highest and best use of the law of cause of cause and effect and you live life lovingly, happily, healthfully, and abundantly as God intends. It is your choice: To live by Karma or by Grace. Your decision depends on whether you want to live in past mistakes, or live free. Choose wisely.
