A story Dr. Fox shared with his students was about a middle-aged man named Patrick who nursed his asthmatic wife Rae fro more than twenty years.

The more Patrick did for Rae, the more she became emotionally incapacitated. Patrick took care of her every need. He held a full-time job, did all of the household chores, shopped for groceries, cooked, and took care of their two children and all of their needs at school.

Suddenly and unexpectedly, Patrick died. Rae no longer stayed in bed, she started doing the household chores. She took driving lessons, got a part-time job, changed her hairstyle and color, and never mentioned her asthma. When her loving and devoted Patrick was no longer there to take care of her, she had a quick recovery and went on to live a full life, even marrying again. Dr. Fox said, "Don't become a Patrick in life. When you give, give with wisdom.

A little humor. . .

A man on a tight schedule was told his flight from Istanbul to Germany would be delayed 24 hours. He lost his temper and began screaming at the ticket agent. "It will be okay," the agent assured him. "I can still get you on yesterday's flight. It hasn't left yet."
