The Gift of Giving - Part One

Eric Butterworth wrote in Spiritual Economics, "Two men were engaged in an animated conversation. As the discussion grew increasingly heated, one of the men was heard to say, 'Just tell me one thing, what's in it for me?' It is an attitude that is all too common. What's in it for me? Not, how can I give more to the job or relationship, but how can I be sure that I get mine?"

As we enter in to the Christmas season, there is a lot of thought given to gift-giving, and receiving. Too often too much emphasis is placed on getting rather than giving. This is often true in every day life.

President John F. Kennedy said, "Do not ask what your country can do for you, but ask what you can do for your county." This can be paraphrased to read, "Do not ask what God can do for you, but ask what you can do for God."

It is right to expect to receive from God, but what are the gifts you are giving to God. True Positive Living is giving your whole self to God and giving thanks often for all that God gives to you which is all that God is. God never withholds from any of His children. The way to discover what's in it for you is to be aware of what you are giving to God, and to all of humanity. Unconditional love is the very best gift. Give enough love and everything will be wonderful. - Lovingly, Rev. John

In the mail. . .

Like a Miracle! Thank you for praying with us. Just as we were about to lose our home because we had not been able to keep up the payments, we were given more than enough money to get caught up and have some left over for bills. I have found a new job which I like very much and my wife has received a promotion in her job which will pay her more money. It's like a miracle and we are so thankful. Your prayers surely are powerful! We have decided to give tithing an honest try. It's a little scary, but not having enough money is scarier. This way we know we can depend on God to provide for us.
