The Grateful Heart - Part Four

Eric Butterworth wrote in Spiritual Economics, "A missionary to Africa has related the story of his work with a tribe that was mysteriously poverty-stricken, even though other tribes in the same region were relatively prosperous. He was curious about this strange phenomenon. He spent years researching all aspects of their culture. He came up with but one possibility: in their tribal language, they had no word with which to express gratitude.

"Perhaps, through some quirk of evolution, they had forgotten how to say thank you. He drew no conclusions, but he did ask a question: 'Could this loss of the spirit of thanksgiving have been responsible for their poverty?' It is an interesting and revealing possibility.

"We might ask the same question of ourselves: 'Could it be that our own financial problems may be the result of the loss, even temporarily, of a grateful heart?'"

Gratitude is causative energy. You do not need anything to be grateful for, just let your heart be filled with gratitude. That is filling is with the very substance of divine love. Your grateful heart is the open and free conduit for divine substance to flow through. It's simple! The more your heart is filled with gratitude, the greater is your abundance, and the greater you are. I am grateful for you! - Lovingly, Rev. John
