The Grateful Heart - Part Two

A grateful mind is a great mind which eventually attracts to itself great things. - Plato

The grateful person is great because he or she is illuminated from within. A grateful person usually enjoys abundance because he is grateful. The grateful heart is an open channel through which God's great good flows easily, thus becoming an attractive force for universal riches.

Eric Butterworth wrote in, Spiritual Economics, "An English couple was visiting New York City for the first time. They came with some apprehensiveness because they had been conditioned with a vision of a sordid and crime-ridden city. The host thoughtfully took them first to the observation deck of one of the city's highest buildings so they could get a lofty overview. It was a beautiful clear day, and they could 'see forever.'

"The visitors were delighted and surprised, giving them a very positive initial reaction. Later, on a tour of the city, the man remarked that he could not forget that view from the top. They had a wonderful weeklong stay and left singing the praises of the 'loveliest, friendliest, and finest place we have ever been.' All because of the initial high-level perspective."

This is what the grateful mind and heart does: view from a high-level perspective. It is seeing things in a better light that contemplates everything from the highest possible viewpoint. Whatever challenge you may be faced with, rise above it by filling your heart with gratitude. Everything is easier when you are focused on God and his abundant good including His unconditional love for you. - Lovingly, Rev. John

From Church Bulletins . . . The minister would appreciate it if the ladies of the congregation would lend him their electric girdles for the pancake breakfast next Saturday morning.

Weight Watchers will meet at 7 p.m. at the First Presbyterian church. Please use the large double doors at the side entrance.

This evening at 7 p.m., there will be a hymn sing in the park across from the church. Bring a blanket and come prepared to sin.
