Get Ready to Receive!

What do you desire? What do you expect to receive? Are you ready for your desires to be fulfilled? Sometimes, people will pray but do nothing or very little to prepare for the greater good they expect. Then they wonder why it doesn't show up. It is always more profitable to pray and then take action in the direction of your goal.

When I was beginning my study toward the Unity Ministry, I needed books for that purpose because I had enrolled in the Unity Correspondence School. I was also attending classes in the local Unity church. Hungry for Truth and wanting to be of service, I spent considerable time at the local church and at the large church in a near-by city.

About that time, my wife and I helped her sister to move from an old house into a brand new one. While doing so, I saw a large, glass-door cabinet in the basement and asked her about it. She said I could have it. It was badly in need of paint and some loving care, but I could see it would be just right for my Unity books. At the time, my "library" consisted of only two or three books, but I knew I would need many more.

Taking the cabinet home, I spent a lot of time sanding and painting while thinking of the books that would fill it although I had no idea where they would come from. When someone would ask, I just said, "The books will come."

One day, when I was almost finished renewing the cabinet, the phone rang. The voice that answered was that of the secretary of the large Unity church. She asked if I would be interested in some Unity books. I told her, "I sure would!" She told me of a lady who had recently passed on and her sister, who was not a Truth student, had no use for the books and wanted to give them to someone who could use them.

When I called this lady, she said I could have them if I would come and get them. Arriving at her home, I was surprised to see not just a couple of boxes, but at least six boxes filled with Unity and New Thought books, plus many of her sister's correspondence study papers! Thanking her, I loaded up my car and drove home. I'll never forget the look on my wife's face when I brought all those boxes into the house!

I had been given a real treasure. Some books were first-editions and others out-of-print. When I placed the books in the cabinet, they more than filled the shelves.

This taught me a good lesson: When I pray I had better expect to receive and do whatever is necessary to prepare for the good God is providing. It's the Law of Attraction in action. - Lovingly, Rev. John

An arrogant tycoon once told his minister that there really was no need for him to pray ever again. After all, he had everything - he was young, rich, and good-looking. After hearing this, the minister said, "Well, you might want to pray for humility."

When I called, I felt miserable, but even before we finished talking, I was feeling better and soon there was a definite change for the better. Now, I am well and back to work.
